Rachel’s Development Programme
Rachel Muiruri is involved in an orphanage and also works with HIV infected children in the vicinity of Thika.

We first visited her projects during our visit in February 2005.

With the help of a number of volunteers, Rachel runs an orphanage, four other branches, ‘drop-inns’ (which is day-care facility) and distributions posts for medicines.

In 2005 Rachel already explained about her plans: she wants to build a shelter and is trying to raise funds for this.

During our3 visit in May 2006 we were (once again) impressed by her projects.

Through a financial contribution, ThikaXperience has taken care of the plumbing and water tanks she needed.

In May 2006 the construction work for the shelter started. Volunteers have done the work: the dormitory and the kitchen were finished late July and in August the children moved to the new premises.
